Water Matters - a snapshot of Europe's water sector
Brussels, 24 May 2017: Europe’s water sector gives an insight into its achievements and challenges in Water Matters, a publication from EurEau.
Featuring views from Karmenu Vella, the European Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and Micheal Dantin MEP, as well as EurEau’s key policy drivers and member associations, this compressive review lays out the issues facing Europe’s water sector at the outset of the EU’s review of water legislation.
EurEau President, Bruno Tisserand, stated: “Water operators are the lynchpin in supporting our society and economy. We have many successes in guaranteeing a safe and reliable supply and treatment of water for us all but we face many challenges. EU decision makers must overcome silo-thinking and use the current legislative review to adopt a framework which includes agricultural and pharmaceutical policy. Investments must be supported and the polluter pays principle implemented.”
