Monitoring Droughts for Optimum Management of Water Resources in Jordan
The SWIM-H2020 SM EU-funded Project organised a 4-day Training on Drought Monitoring and Early Warning System in Amman-Zarqa Basin, 23-26 July 2018.
Representatives of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, who are directly involved in drought management/ water resources management and planning, hydrological and water balance modeling were able to improve their existing drought monitoring practices, run the Drought Monitoring System (DMS) and calculate the drought indicators in other basins/areas.
Two (2) Trainings on Drought Risk Management have already been organized by the Project’s water experts this year, in Jordan and a similar one is planned for September 2018.
All 3 Trainings, were planned to support and contribute to the National Water Strategy (NWSS 2016-2025) in order to address drought management in Jordan .
