CDC: Global access to clean drinking water on the rise
In a report titled “Top Global Public Health Achievements in First Decade of 21st Century,” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stated that more than 800 million people gained access to improved drinking water sources in the past decade, AWWA streamlines reported.
The gain represents a 4 percent increase in the proportion of the world’s population with access to safe water.
CDC also reported that an additional 570 million people gained access to improved sanitation since 2000, which equates to a 3 percent increase from the prior decade, according to the story.
