Meeting dates and request for nominations for new CIS activity on Climate Change and Water
At their June meeting in Dresden the European Water Directors endorsed a mandate for a new activity on Climate Change and Water.
A Strategic Steering Group on Climate Change and Water will be established, lead by Germany and the Commission. A first key activity will be a workshop on 19, 20 November in Bonn (ca 70 participants) focusing on how to take account of climate change in the first River Basin Management Plans and providing a platform to exchange information on adaptation measures at different levels.
A first meeting of the Strategic Steering Group (SSG) will take place on Friday 28 September in Brussels. At this meeting, the deliverables in the mandate will be further elaborated and the workshop will be prepared. As participant in the Common Implementation Strategy, you are invited to nominate a representative from your Member State, stakeholder organisation or NGO to the SSG and send his/her contact details by 1 September 2007 to thomas.stratenwerth@bmu.bund.de and marieke.van-nood@ec.europa.eu.
An invitation and agenda for the first SSG meeting will be sent early September.
