EU project to organise training on public–private partnerships in water sector

A regional training will be held on 8-10 June in Jordan by the EU-funded Sustainable Water Integrated Management – Support Mechanism (SWIM-SM) to support water and financing officials from the Mediterranean partner countries, as well as stakeholders from the private sector and NGOs, on evaluating and structuring public–private partnership (PPP) agreements for water projects. 

The training includes: evaluating PPP options; main actions by the Authority related to requirements, feasibility, bankability, local conditions and main clauses to be included in agreements; process for assessment of PPPs as well as project management including reporting procedures, monitoring and indicators. 

The aim is for participants to be able to differentiate between the different PPP contract options as well as between the processes for these different options. Concrete cases will help explain the complexity associated with the processes.
