16th Meeting of the Mediterranean Commission on Sustainable Development (MCSD)
From 9 to 11 June 2015, the Moroccan government kindly hosted the 16th Meeting of the Mediterranean Commission on Sustainable Development (MCSD) in Marrakesh. The main goal of this meeting was the endorsement of the revised Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development (MSSD 2016-2025) following the comments addressed by the participants at the Conference on the Review of the MSSD held in Floriana (Malta) on 17-18 February 2015.
Taking into account some comments, MCSD agreed on a text for the MSSD. This text will be submitted to the meeting of Mediterranean Action Plan in October 2015 in view of its validation by Barcelone Convention Conference of Parties in February 2016.
The 16th MCSD meeting proposed a reform of the MCSD as well as a simplified peer review process for sustainable development in the Mediterranea. The Regional Action Plan for Sustainable Consumption and Production as well as the Regional Adaptation Framework on Climate Change for the Mediterranean were also presented to collect feedbacks.
Plan Bleu organized a side event on MSSD monitoring. Participation was very strong. The proposals made by Plan Bleu were appreciated and enriched by participants' comments
