18th Ordinary Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention and its Protocols

The 18th Ordinary Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean and its Protocols will take place in Istanbul, Turkey, from 3 to 6 December 2013.

The Contracting Parties hold ordinary meetings once every two years to keep under review the implementation of the Barcelona Convention and Protocols, to decide on the programme of work and approve the programme budget.

At their 18th Meeting, the Contracting Parties will hold consultations at ministerial level on emerging policy issues. The meeting will also review the progress achieved during the current 2012-2013 biennium and decide on future actions and programmatic decisions of significance to keeping the UNEP/Mediterranean Action Plan relevant and action oriented to improve the marine and coastal environment and promote sustainable development in the Mediterranean region.
