The Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders - UfM Open Days
The Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders has become a major economic event in the Mediterranean region. Last year more than a thousand businessmen and businesswomen, governmental entities of the Mediterranean region and representatives of international and regional institutions met to discuss and promote the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation and integration as a core factor for economic and social development.
The Barcelona Week, a reference for the key stakeholders of the Mediterranean region, reinforces and consolidates the economic pillars of the Union for the Mediterranean and its permanent Secretariat in Barcelona, when major social and economic changes are happening in the region.
In this historical moment, the Barcelona Week will provide a forum to discuss solutions for a better future, addressing critical issues like good governance, youth employment, development of SMEs, green economy and integration of women, by proposing concrete projects and creating new business opportunities.
The Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders will include different forums and events focused on key aspects for the development of the Mediterranean region:
- North Africa Business Development Forum - NABDF 2011
- Union for the Mediterranean Open Days
- Mediterranean Green Economy Forum - ECO MEDA GREEN FORUM 2011
- Meda Women Entrepreneurs Forum
And will also have other parallel events held at the margin of the Barcelona week:

UfM OPEN DAYS
Secretariat of Union for the Mediterranean
November 22nd – 23rd, Casa Llotja de Mar, Barcelona
The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) is a multilateral partnership with a view to increasing the potential for regional integration and cohesion in the Euro-Mediterranean region. Based in Barcelona, the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean contributes to promote regional, sub-regional and transnational projects in order to improve the socio-economic development, regional integration, sustainable development and the exchange of knowledge among and within the 43 countries of the UfM. During the “UfM open days”, the Secretariat of Union for the Mediterranean will present its activities and projects. The “UfM open days” will also provide a platform for exchange of views among decision-makers, representatives of the private sector and the civil society on core priorities of the UfM. The debates are organised in four half-days:
