Water shortages and scarcity of water resources constitute one of the serious problems facing the entire Arab region. The impact of water on the socio -economic development, food production, and cell and virtually on the environment and biological diversity are a scientific, administrative and economic challenge for public and private institutions alike.
More important is the necessity to read the future and consider the possibility of action accordingly .This requires finding technological, scientific and administrative solutions, developing joint national and regional programs that will help minimize the effects of drought and desertification which overwhelm spacious areas in the Arab world. The increasing cities expansion, high energy costs, scarcity of agricultural areas, population density in towns, all necessitate looking for appropriate water sources and effective management of what is available, as well as adopting effective means to rationalize through proper technology water consumption , would enhance development in the coming years.
