Corruption in the Water Sector: courses, consequences and cures
Speaker: Dr. Manoj Nadkarni, Water Integrity Network.
Corruption - defined as the misuse of entrusted power for private gain -
reduces economic growth, discourages investment, violates human dignity,
increases health risks and robs the porr of livelihoods and access to water
services.
Corruption hurts the poor - by limiting the expansion andeffective delivery
of water supply and sanitation services and the overall management of water
resources - by diverting investments that would benefit them.
