International Conference: « Instituting sustainable development. Adaptation, professionalization, standardization »

This international conference will question the mechanisms of institutionalisation of this concept through the consideration of the articulation between the geographical levels (international, national and local levels), the interaction between different network of actors (in particular the sustainable development experts) and the introduction of the institutional compromises between the actors at stake.   

Therefore, the conference will be an opportunity to confront the empiricists and theoretical analyses of the mechanism of diffusion, appropriation, and professionalization of SD (mainly at a local level). It will focus on the study of the strategies through which this concept is integrated and of the required operating re-formulation of these strategies from the local actors (politicians, institutional leaders, network of companies, militant sectors).

The following points will be examined: the workshop 1 Appropriation analyse the ways of diffusion and acquisition of theoretical and practical know-how related to the sustainable development; the second workshop Professionalization try to explain how does the acquisition of the know how participate to the practical redefinition of the general principles of the sustainable development; the third workshop Behaviour proposed to study the procedures of inculcation of the general concepts of the sustainable development within the actors involved; the last workshop Codification relates the forms of elaboration of the compromises (technical, scientific, legal) leading to the adoption of a constraining rule for the actors concerned.
