Objectives | - Objectives of the project: - More effective dissemination of research, studies and projects carried out on Land Degradation Management (LDM) in the Mediterranean coastal zone. The network aims at providing research and project reviews, indications-guidelines to implement LDM through the assessment of interactions among major factors of resources management such as soil, water, biota, human activity, cultural resources, soil erosion, land degradation. - Expected results: a) better understanding of research and research needs; b) better communication between players involved in landscape and soil degradation management, improved accessibility to information on relevant research; c) better approach to real participatory ecosystem and economically-based land-soil conservation management. - Objectives of the TN include the effectiveness of co-ordination and dissemination of research, studies and projects in Mediterranean countries on Land Degradation and Soil Conservation Management (LDSCM). - The network aims at providing research reviews, indications and guidelines to implement LDSCM through the assessment of interaction among environmental and economic factors such as soil, water, biota, human activity, cultural resources, and socio-economics. - The Thematic Network will: - Establish Mediterranean-wide permanent communication structure between researchers, decision makers, users; -) Link research activities to needs arising from Mediterranean coastal zone management; - Provide extraction of relevant knowledge (in a simple, effective and easy-to read form)and allow access to organised information; - Provide a framework to assist regional planning. |
