SPatial Integration of Hydrological Monitoring and Remote Sensing Applications
Development of two remote sensing based modules in an existing spatial hydrological simulation model (STREAM) for the monitoring of the impacts of climate change on snow cover dynamics and for the assessment of impacts of flooding on population growth and on agricultural production.

Objectives | ision 2000 aims at the development of a vision for water, life and
the environment for the next century and organising a conference on the use
of water resources in the world. One of the main themes in the conference
concerned the analysis of impacts of river basin management in the
Ganges/Brahmaputra/Meghna basin on the coastal zone of India and Bangladesh.
The SPIHRAL project (SPatial Integration of Hydrological monitoring and Remote Sensing AppLications) aims at using an existing hydrologic simulation instrument (STREAM) for the analysis of the impacts of climate change on the hydrology of the basin. In order to use the existing instrument STREAM for detailed river basin monitoring in South Asia the instrument has been expanded during the SPIHRAL project with two remote sensing modules:
